Silhouette Dance Company is for dancers who are ready to grow in a welcoming, inspiring, and encouraging environment. Our company is built for dancers who want to strengthen their technique, build performance quality, and be part of a team that values community, commitment, respect, growth, teamwork, and drive. What to Expect

Silhouette Dance Company believes every dancer has a place on the team. Our goal is to place each dancer where they will be challenged, supported, and set up for success both technically and personally. Placement is based on audition results, technical ability, performance quality, attitude, and overall commitment level. Dancers are also evaluated throughout the season and may be considered for advancement as they grow.

Audition Information

All dancers must attend the annual audition or setup private lesson to be considered for Silhouette Dance Company.

Time: 4:00–6:00 PM
Audition Fee: $30

The audition allows staff to evaluate each dancer’s current skill level, technique, performance quality, and readiness for team placement. As part of the audition process, dancers will also reflect on their strengths, areas for improvement, and personal goals for the upcoming season.

Summer Training Requirement

To be considered for and remain on the team, dancers are expected to continue training over the summer. A Friday Evening Technique Class will be offered throughout the summer, and dancers must attend at least 3 weeks of classes. These classes are designed to challenge dancers, build technique, and prepare them for the upcoming season.

NEW: Team Levels

SDC Select

SDC Select is the highest level of training and commitment. Dancers in this level are expected to demonstrate strong technical ability, performance quality, and leadership within the studio.

Class Requirements: Ballet, Jazz, Turns & Leaps, and 1 additional technique class
Competition Requirements: 3 regional competitions, 1 national competition, and participation in 1 small group and 1 large group

SDC Rise

SDC Rise is designed for dancers who are committed to growth and actively working to improve their technique and performance quality.

Class Requirements: Ballet, Jazz, and 1 additional technique class
Competition Requirements: 3 regional competitions, 1 national competition, and participation in 1 small group and 1 large group

SDC Ignite

SDC Ignite is designed for dancers who are newer to the competition experience and are looking to grow their foundational skills in a supportive, structured environment. This level emphasizes developing strong technique basics, building confidence in performance, and introducing dancers to the expectations and culture of a competition team.

Class Requirements: Ballet or Jazz, plus 1 additional technique class
Competition Requirements: 3 regional competitions and participation in 1 small group

SDC Spark (Ages 5-8)

SDC Spark is our introductory competition team designed specifically for younger dancers who are ready to begin their journey into the Company environment. This level focuses on building strong foundational technique, confidence, and a love for performing in a supportive and encouraging setting.

Class Requirements: Ballet or Jazz, plus 1 additional technique class
Competition Requirements: 2 regional competitions and participation in 1 small group

Season Commitment

Joining Silhouette Dance Company is a full-season commitment beginning in August 2026 and continuing through Nationals in Summer 2027. Dancers are expected to prioritize classes, rehearsals, competitions, performances, and required events throughout the season. Group routines are prioritized over solos, duos, and trios, and dancers must remain in good standing in attendance, behavior, and finances to participate in performances.

At Silhouette Dance Company, we are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and positive environment. Dancers are expected to show commitment, focus, and respect in all classes and rehearsals. Bullying, teasing, exclusion, gossip, harassment, disruptive attitudes, and negative social media behavior are not tolerated. We want dancers who will uplift their teammates, demonstrate good sportsmanship, and represent Silhouette Dance with kindness and professionalism.

Attendance & Dress Code

Consistent attendance is essential for success. Technique class attendance directly supports strength, growth, and performance quality, while competition rehearsals are mandatory for the success of the full team. Clear communication is required for absences.

Dancers are also expected to arrive fully prepared for every class and rehearsal. Hair must be neatly pulled back, proper shoes must be worn for each style, and company rehearsal attire must be form-fitted so instructors can clearly see lines, placement, and technique. Baggy clothing is not permitted during company rehearsals.
